Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued July 12 at 3:09PM MST until July 12 at 9:00PM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 487 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MST THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ARIZONA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL ARIZONA GILA IN SOUTH CENTRAL ARIZONA MARICOPA IN SOUTHEAST ARIZONA PINAL THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF APACHE JUNCTION, CACTUS FOREST, CASA GRANDE, ELOY, FLORENCE, JAKES CORNER, KOHLS RANCH, MESA, PAYSON, PHOENIX, PUNKIN CENTER, RYE, STAR VALLEY, AND TONTO VILLAGE.

Blowing Dust Advisory issued July 12 at 7:56AM MST until July 12 at 8:00PM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ * WHAT...Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected. * WHERE...Gila Bend, Northwest Pinal County, Sonoran Desert Natl Monument, and West Pinal County. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 8 PM MST this evening. * IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.

Maricopa County in south central Arizona... Pinal County in southeastern Arizona... * Until 715 PM MST. * At 629 PM MST, a wall of dust was along a line extending from near Arizola to near Casa Grande to 11 miles northwest of Chui-Chu to 15 miles southeast of Freeman, moving northwest at 55 mph. HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with strong wind in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Public. IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel. * This includes the following highways... AZ Interstate 10 between mile markers 174 and 205. AZ Interstate 8 between mile markers 134 and 178. AZ Route 87 between mile markers 124 and 129, and between mile markers 138 and 154. Locations impacted include... Casa Grande, Maricopa, Estrella, Arizona City, La Palma, Blackwater, Toltec, Big Horn, Bapchule, Freeman, Estrella Sailport, Olberg, Arizola, Sonoran National Monument, and Randolph. Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.
