Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued April 25 at 6:00PM CDT until April 25 at 6:30PM CDT by NWS Goodland KS At 559 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 5 miles southwest of Monument, or 12 miles southwest of Oakley, moving northeast at 60 mph. HAZARD...Tennis ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters reported Tennis Ball size hail near Russell Springs at 553pm IMPACT...People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe storm will be near... Monument around 605 PM CDT. Gem around 625 PM CDT. Rexford around 630 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include Mingo and Halford. This includes Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 49 and 75. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for northwestern and west central Kansas. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This storm is producing large hail. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
