Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued June 12 at 2:45PM EDT until June 12 at 9:00PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 321 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN WEST VIRGINIA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 8 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL WEST VIRGINIA NICHOLAS WEBSTER IN NORTHERN WEST VIRGINIA POCAHONTAS RANDOLPH IN SOUTHERN WEST VIRGINIA FAYETTE MCDOWELL RALEIGH WYOMING THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BECKLEY, COWEN, CRAIGSVILLE, ELKINS, FAYETTEVILLE, GARY, HOLLY RIVER STATE PARK, MARLINTON, MULLENS, OAK HILL, OCEANA, PINEVILLE, RICHWOOD, SUMMERSVILLE, WAR, WEBSTER SPRINGS, AND WELCH.

Special Weather Statement issued June 12 at 3:50PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 350 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Bradley to near Bald Knob. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Beckley, Mullens, Mabscott, Oceana, Sophia, Crab Orchard, Dry Creek, Macarthur, Coal City, Shady Spring, Twin Falls State Park, Beaver, Daniels, Lester, Rhodell, Naoma, Bolt, Arnett, Kopperston, and Glen Daniel. This includes the following highways... West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 32 and 44. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 120 and 122. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for southern and southeastern West Virginia.
