tornado warning in effect At 6:58 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Thursday, Environment Canada has updated a tornado warning for Western and Central Quebec. Extra care and attention should be exercised. The following localities are included in the warning: Parent, Gouin Reservoir, Val d'Or and Amos. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Please consult local media for more information.

severe thunderstorm watch in effect Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain this afternoon and this evening. ### Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
