severe thunderstorm warning in effect At 11:06 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Alfred to Glenmore, moving east at 65 km/h. Hazards: Up to 120 km/h wind gusts. Up to quarter size hail. Risk of a tornado. Locations impacted include: Cornwall, Morrisburg, Newington, Long Sault, Maxville, Alexandria, Lancaster, Voyageur Provincial Park, Sainte-Justine-de-Newton, Domville, Cardinal, Brinston, Iroquois, Stampville, Williamsburg, Chesterville, Dunbar, Mariatown, Upper Canada Village and Hoasic. ### Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Tents, vehicles, mobile homes and trailers offer little protection. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
