In Indiana, Lake IN and Porter Counties. * WHEN...From late tonight through Wednesday evening. * IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening, especially for inexperienced swimmers. For information on swim advisories or bans at Chicago beaches: www. cpdbeaches. com. Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.

Special Weather Statement issued May 28 at 5:15PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL At 514 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near South Haven to Steger. Movement was east southeast at 10 to 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Hammond, Gary, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso, East Chicago, Schererville, Hobart, Lansing, Crown Point, Highland, Munster, Chesterton, Griffith, Dyer, St. John, Lake Station, Lynwood, South Haven, Whiting, Porter, Winfield, New Chicago, and Burns Harbor. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Flood Advisory issued May 28 at 5:01PM CDT until May 28 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following county, Cook and northwest Indiana, including the following county, Lake IN. * WHEN...Until 800 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 459 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms. Up to 0.8 inches of rain have fallen in less than 30 minutes with additional rainfall moving into the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Harvey, Dolton, Calumet City, East Chicago, Hammond, Lansing, Whiting.
