For ALPINE AREAS above 1900 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h with peak gusts up to 100km/h are likely during Friday, easing during the afternoon. For the SOUTH COAST RANGES and parts of the ILLAWARRA: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of 90 km/h are possible from late Friday morning, easing by the evening. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that back country travel be postponed until conditions improve. Locations which may be affected include Nowra, Nerriga, Perisher Valley and Thredbo Top Station. Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Australian Capital Territory district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. Sustained 83 km/h winds were observed at Thredbo Top Station at 8:30 pm. Sustained 63 km/h winds were observed at Gudgenby at 12:00 pm. Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds are expected during Friday and Saturday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts.
