Tropical Cyclone Alert : Tropical Depression Igme “IGME” ACCELERATES NORTHWESTWARD AND IS NEARING THE SAKISHIMA ISLANDS IN THE RYUKYU ARCHIPELAGO Location of eye/center : The center of the eye was estimated based on all available data at 500 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (24.3, 124.9). Strength : Maximum winds of 55 kph near the centerand gustiness of up to 70 kph. Forecast movement : Forecast to move Northwestward at 40 kph Forecast position : Sep 21, 2024 08:00 AM - 580 km North Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) Sep 21, 2024 08:00 PM - 575 km North of Itbayat, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) Sep 22, 2024 08:00 AM - 515 km North Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) Heavy Rainfall Outlook Refer to Weather Advisory No. 42 issued at 11:00 PM today for the heavy rainfall outlook due to the Southwest Monsoon and Tropical Depression IGME. Severe Winds The lifting of Wind Signals means that severe winds directly caused by IGME is no longer threatening any locality of the country. However, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds): Today and tomorrow (21 September): Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the extreme eastern portion of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Zambales. Sunday (22 September): Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Zambales. 24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook A Gale Warning is hoisted for the seaboards of Ilocos Region. Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas. For more information, refer to Gale Warning No. 1 issued at 11:00 PM today. Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters: 2.5 to 4.0 m: The seaboards of Batanes and Zambales 1.5 to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Babuyan Islands 1.0 to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Bataan, Kalayaan Islands, and mainland Cagayan Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels. Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters: Up to 2.5 m: The seaboards of Isabela and Lubang Island. Mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions. IGME is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow (21 September) early morning, turn more west northwestward over the East China Sea for the remainder of tomorrow, then west southwestward on Sunday (22 September) Tonight through tomorrow, IGME will remain a tropical depression (although the possibility of becoming a short-duration tropical storm is not ruled). A passing cold front over the East China Sea will weaken the tropical depression into a low pressure area by Sunday.
