Flood Watch issued June 20 at 3:36AM CDT until June 20 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL Widespread showers and storms are expected to develop once again today along a stalled frontal boundary draped across Central Alabama. High confidence exists for slow-moving storms capable of producing very heavy rainfall on top of already saturated soils for locations within the watch area. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall on top of already saturated soil conditions is possible. * WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties, Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Bullock, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa and Walker. * WHEN...From 7 AM CDT this morning through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flood Warning issued June 20 at 5:09PM CDT until June 20 at 8:15PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties, Jefferson and Shelby. * WHEN...Until 815 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 509 PM CDT, heavy rainfall has ended, but multiple creeks and streams remain out of their banks, including Village Creek and Shades Creek. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Bessemer, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Hueytown, Gardendale, Irondale, Fairfield, Fultondale, Pleasant Grove, Tarrant, Midfield, Brighton, Indian Springs Village, Lipscomb, Samford University, Five Points South and U.A.B. Campus. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
