Flood Watch issued July 16 at 2:36PM MST until July 17 at 5:00AM MST by NWS Tucson AZ * WHAT...Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing very heavy rain in a short period of time. The excessive rain will lead to increased chances for flash flooding. The heavy rain will also lead to significant flow in area washes, creeks, and rivers. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Arizona, including the following areas, Baboquivari Mountains, Catalina and Rincon Mountains, South Central Pinal County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O'odham Nation, Tucson Metro Area and Upper Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Daytime heating will combine with a very moist atmosphere to produce scattered showers and thunderstorms which will be capable of very heavy rain. Storms will continue after sunset. Flood Advisory issued July 16 at 8:16PM MST until July 17 at 12:15AM MST by NWS Tucson AZ * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Northeastern Pima County in southeastern Arizona... * WHEN...Until 1215 AM MST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 810 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated rainfall decreasing in intensity across the Tucson area after earlier heavy rain. As this rainfall drains into washes, this will result in a continuation of urban and small stream flooding. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Esperero Wash, Bird Canyon, Brawley Wash, Tanque Verde Wash, West Branch Santa Cruz River, Big Wash, Oro, Caada del, Rillito River, Santa Cruz River, Chalk Creek, Sabino Creek, Sutherland Wash, Ventana Canyon Wash and Agua Caliente Wash. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Tucson, Oro Valley, Marana, Casas Adobes, Flowing Wells, Tanque Verde, Tortolita, Catalina Foothills, Catalina State Park, Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, Tucson Mountain Park, Saguaro National Park West, Valencia West, Tucson Estates and Seven Falls. - This includes the following highways... Route 86 between mile markers 164 and 167. Route 77 between mile markers 70 and 84. Interstate 10 between mile markers 245 and 255. This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations... Agua Caliente Wash from Soldier Trl to Fort Lowell, Wentworth Rd at Tanque Verde Wash, Tanque Verde Loop Rd at Tanque Verde Wash, 1st Ave north of Fort Lowell Rd, Alamo Wash between Speedway and Grant, Silverbell Rd near Ina Rd, Camino De La Tierra at the Rillito River, Camino de Oeste from Sweetwater to Gates Pass, Freeman Rd between Broadway and Old Spanish Trail, Ironwood Hills Dr from Shannon to Camino de Oeste, Limberlost Rd from Soilder Trail to Homestead Ave, Overton Rd at Canada del Oro, Snyder Rd from Kolb Rd to Sabino Canyon Rd and Sunset Rd west of Camino de Oeste. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
