Heat Advisory issued July 11 at 12:32PM CDT until July 11 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN * WHAT...Heat index values up to 109. * WHERE...In Arkansas, Lee AR, Phillips, and St. Francis Counties. In Mississippi, Coahoma, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Special Weather Statement issued July 11 at 6:28PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN At 628 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Hughes, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Southaven, West Memphis, Horn Lake, Marion, Hughes, T O Fuller State Park, Memphis, Walls, Edmondson, Horseshoe Lake, Anthonyville, Jennette, Lake Cormorant, Southwest Memphis, Simsboro, Eudora, Brickeys, Pinckney, Lynchburg, and Phillipp. This includes the following highways... Interstate 40 in Arkansas between mile markers 253 and 274, and between mile markers 279 and 284. Interstate 55 in Arkansas between mile markers 1 and 4. Interstate 55 in Tennessee between mile markers 7 and 12. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 800 PM CDT for eastern Arkansas...northwestern Mississippi...and west Tennessee.
