Flood Advisory issued September 24 at 12:16PM CDT until September 24 at 3:15PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Illinois, including the following counties, Cook and Will. * WHEN...Until 315 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1214 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated very heavy rainfall occurring. Automated gauges indicate that rainfall rates as high as 2 to 3 inches per hour are occurring with these showers. This heavy rainfall will be moving into the south side of Chicago through 1 PM. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Chicago, Cicero, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Berwyn, Oak Park, Calumet City, Midway Airport, Chicago Lawn, Roseland, Englewood, South Lawndale, Bridgeport, South Shore, Austin, West Town, Chicago Loop, Burbank and Oak Forest. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.
