Flood Advisory issued June 5 at 2:50AM CDT until June 5 at 8:45AM CDT by NWS Kansas City/Pleasant Hill MO * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Western Atchison County in northeastern Kansas... * WHEN...Until 845 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding possible in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 248 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Upstream rain gauges measured nearly 8 inches of rainfall which is expected to runoff into upstream creeks. This will cause small stream flooding. Rapid river rises may cause flooding in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Muscotah and Arrington. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
