Flood Watch issued June 4 at 5:35AM CDT until June 4 at 10:00PM CDT by NWS Hastings NE * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of north central Kansas, including the following counties, Jewell, Mitchell, Osborne and Smith and south central Nebraska, including the following counties, Nuckolls and Thayer. * WHEN...From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Portions of the Watch area have seen at least 2-4 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, with some flooding still in progress. While periods of steady light to moderate rain this morning could slow the improvement of flooding issues from prior rainfall, there is also concern that an additional round of scattered heavy rain from thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening could drop another 1-2 inches of rain in a short time over parts (not all) of the Watch area. This could cause new flooding issues for some areas, and/or worsen existing flooding problems for those areas that have already endured heavy rain over the last 24 hours. Fortunately, once any storms move out of the area this evening, dry weather is then expected to prevail through at least late Friday afternoon. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
