Flood Warning issued June 26 at 2:49AM CDT until June 26 at 7:15AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 715 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 249 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Derby, Winfield, Mulvane, Neodesha, Fredonia, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Yates Center, Oxford, Udall, Howard, Burden, Altoona, Moline, Longton, Toronto, Severy, Buffalo, Grenola and Atlanta. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Bel Aire, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Maize, Douglass, Downtown Wichita, Eastborough, Mcconnell Air Force Base, South Wichita, East Wichita, Northeast Wichita, Eisenhower National Airport, West Wichita, Oaklawn, Jabara Airport and Augusta Municipal Airport.
