Flood Watch issued June 25 at 11:17PM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Marion, McPherson and Rice. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In southeast Kansas, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 715 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 249 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Derby, Winfield, Mulvane, Neodesha, Fredonia, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Yates Center, Oxford, Udall, Howard, Burden, Altoona, Moline, Longton, Toronto, Severy, Buffalo, Grenola and Atlanta. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Bel Aire, Mulvane, Rose Hill, Maize, Douglass, Downtown Wichita, Eastborough, Mcconnell Air Force Base, South Wichita, East Wichita, Northeast Wichita, Eisenhower National Airport, West Wichita, Oaklawn, Jabara Airport and Augusta Municipal Airport. Walnut River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Walnut River at Augusta. * WHEN...From this afternoon to tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, Expect flooding of low-lying areas and agricultural flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 14.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 23.5 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage this evening. - Flood stage is 23.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
