Flood Watch issued April 29 at 7:36AM CDT until April 29 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Evangeline, Northern Acadia, Northern Calcasieu, Northern Jefferson Davis, Rapides, Southern Acadia, Southern Calcasieu, Southern Jefferson Davis, St. Landry and Vernon and southeast Texas, including the following areas, Hardin, Lower Jefferson, Northern Jasper, Northern Newton, Northern Orange, Southern Jasper, Southern Newton, Southern Orange, Tyler and Upper Jefferson. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Flooding continues in portions of the watch area. Flood Warning issued April 29 at 7:27AM CDT until April 29 at 1:30PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu and Vernon and southeast Texas, including the following counties, Hardin, Jasper, Newton and Tyler. * WHEN...Until 130 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 727 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain have fallen with local amounts up to 10 inches. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lumberton, De Ridder, Jasper, Leesville, Silsbee, Woodville, Newton, Kirbyville, Kountze, Rosepine, Merryville, Reeves, Bon Weir, Call, Fields, Burkeville, Singer, Buna, De Quincy and Town Bluff. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Southwestern Rapides Parish in central Louisiana... Central Allen Parish in southwestern Louisiana... Beauregard Parish in southwestern Louisiana... Northwestern Calcasieu Parish in southwestern Louisiana... Southeastern Vernon Parish in west central Louisiana... South Central Newton County in southeastern Texas... * Until 915 AM CDT. * At 320 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Elizabeth, Reeves, Dry Creek, Sugartown, Ragley, Mittie, Singer, Pitkin, De Quincy, Fields, Hineston, Grant, Tulla, Longville, Harmony, Cravens, Fullerton, Oretta, Bivens and Lacamp. Some locations are not raining in the warned area at this time, but will within the next hour. Rainfall rates will be intense with many locations seeing 2-3 inches in one hour or less. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.

The next statement will be issued late tonight at 300 AM CDT. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Sabine River near Deweyville. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 26.0 feet, Moderate lowland flooding will occur. The lowest homes between Deweyville and the river begin to flood, especially in the Indian Lakes and River Oaks sections. Low-lying roads and a few homes in Southwestern Beauregard Parish have some flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:45 AM CDT Monday the stage was 24.9 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 1:45 AM CDT Monday was 25.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 26.0 feet Thursday morning.
