For the Amite And Comite Rivers...including Olive Branch, Comite Joor Rd, Darlington, Grangeville, Magnolia, Denham Springs, Bayou Manchac Point, Bayou Manchac Near Little Prairie, Port Vincent, French Settlement, Maurepas...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Amite River at Bayou Manchac Point. * WHEN...From this afternoon until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Amite River Road and Horseshoe Drive will be impassable. A few homes on Horseshoe Drive will flood. Water will be approaching Kendalwood Road and access to property will be threatened. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:00 AM CDT Friday the stage was 8.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this afternoon and continue rising to a crest of 10.5 feet Monday morning. - Flood stage is 9.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.2 feet on 02/21/2012. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
