Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 1:09PM CDT by NWS Memphis TN At 109 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Lamar to 6 miles northeast of Holly Springs to 6 miles northwest of Independence. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... New Albany, Holly Springs, Ripley, Wall Doxey State Park, Lamar, Byhalia, Blue Mountain, Snow Lake Shores, Mt Pleasant, Bethlehem, Lewisburg, Red Banks, Laws Hill, Independence, Gravestown, Slayden, Marianna, Hickory Flat, Ashland, and Potts Camp. This includes the following highways... Interstate 22 in Mississipppi between mile markers 9 and 58. Interstate 55 in Mississippi between mile markers 274 and 277. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
