Special Weather Statement issued June 24 at 4:44PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM At 444 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Raton, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Hail may accumulate on roadways causing hazardous travel. Locations impacted include... Raton, Sugarite and Sugarite Canyon State Park. This includes the following highways... Highway 64 between Mile Markers 343 and 359. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 445 and 460. Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.

Northeastern Colfax County in northeastern New Mexico... * Until 530 PM MDT. * At 451 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Raton, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Raton, Sugarite and Sugarite Canyon State Park. This includes the following highways... Highway 64 between Mile Markers 342 and 360. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 445 and 459. Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Accumulations of small hail on roads can create very slick and hazardous driving conditions.

Flood Advisory issued June 24 at 4:57PM MDT until June 24 at 8:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM * WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...North Central Colfax County in northeastern New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 800 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 457 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.75 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
