Coastal Flood Advisory issued July 11 at 2:14PM EDT until July 11 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC * WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. * WHEN...From 7 PM to 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Affected areas listed are based on average tide conditions. Additional locations may experience flooding during periods of heavy rainfall, high winds, or other factors. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.

Heat Advisory issued July 11 at 2:32AM EDT until July 11 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Wilmington NC * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. * WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Allow outside pets and livestock plenty of fresh drinking water and a well ventilated and shaded location.
