Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 7 at 5:24PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC At 523 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northwest of Goldsboro to 7 miles northwest of Bowdens. Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Kinston, Warsaw, La Grange, Mount Olive, Kornegay, Deep Run, Bowdens, Beautancus, Kenansville, Albertson, Kinston Regional Jetport, Sarecta, Faison, Pink Hill, Calypso, and Sandy Bottom. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
