Special Weather Statement issued July 12 at 7:10PM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC At 709 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles northeast of Louisburg to Creedmoor to near Hillsborough. Movement was south at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough, Creedmoor, Louisburg, Wake Forest, Carrboro, Butner, and Franklinton. This includes the following highways... Interstate 85 between Mile Markers 163 and 200. Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 157 and 162, and between Mile Markers 259 and 280. the Durham Freeway between Mile Markers 5 and 17. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
