Heat Advisory issued June 18 at 9:41AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH * WHAT...Heat index values of 100 to 104 degrees are expected at times this week with variability each day due to clouds and scattered showers and storms. * WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. The prolonged nature of the heat may increase heat stress with time. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Air Quality Alert issued June 17 at 9:00PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH An Air Quality Advisory for ground level ozone has been issued by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit Counties. The advisory is from midnight tonight to midnight Tuesday night. Air quality levels will be unhealthy for sensitive groups during this period. If you are in the sensitive groups category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, please monitor your outdoor activity and check air quality readings at airnow.gov. Special Weather Statement issued June 18 at 1:09PM EDT by NWS Cleveland OH At 108 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Wellington, or 13 miles south of Elyria, moving northeast at 10 mph. Additional thunderstorms are developing along a line from Wellington to Sheffield Lake and are moving northeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Lorain, Elyria, Westlake, North Ridgeville, Avon Lake, Grafton, Wellington, North Olmsted, Avon, Berea, Bay Village, Sheffield Lake, Olmsted Falls, Eaton, Oberlin, Sheffield, Lagrange, Penfield, Pittsfield, and Spencer. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
