Flood Watch issued June 5 at 1:25PM CDT until June 6 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX Above normal rainfall from previous days has already saturated soils for many locations within the watch area and recent flooding in urban areas will lead to excessive runoff with any heavy rain that develops this afternoon into tonight. Extremely high precipitable water values will lead to high rain rates within storms quickly leading to flooding. Additionally, storms motions will be slow and favor training through tonight. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following counties, Bastrop, Bexar, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, De Witt, Fayette, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Karnes, Lavaca, Lee, Travis, Williamson and Wilson. * WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...There is a potential for life threatening flooding somewhere in the watch area. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing high rainfall rates which could quickly lead to flooding for some locations in the watch area. Be especially cautious as creeks, streams and rivers may rise out of their banks quickly. Scattered rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches with an isolated 8 inches are possible for the duration of the Flood Watch. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Flood Advisory issued June 5 at 10:26PM CDT until June 6 at 2:00AM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following county, Fayette. * WHEN...Until 200 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Overflowing poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1026 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... La Grange, Fayetteville, Round Top, Carmine, Rutersville, Walhalla, Warrenton, Waldeck, Nechanitz, Rek Hill, Mullins Prairie, Rabbs Prairie, Ellinger, Willow Springs, Winedale, Holman and Ledbetter. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
