Southeastern Ritchie County in northwestern West Virginia... * Until 715 PM EDT. * At 418 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Harrisville, Salem, Jackson Mill, Ellenboro, Pullman, Auburn, Grove, Leopold, New Milton, Blandville, Avon, Coxs Mills, Greenwood, Berea, Newberne, Camden and Burnt House. This includes Route 50 in West Virginia near mile marker 37...and between mile markers 43 and 46...and near mile marker 48. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 18 at 4:48PM EDT until July 18 at 5:00PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 448 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Salem to near Elizabeth, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Harrisville, Salem, Pennsboro, West Union, Mineralwells, North Bend State Park, Ellenboro, Cairo, Pullman, Auburn, Alma, Smithville, Maxwell, Newberne, Mountain, Lima, Hebron, Pike, Center Point, and Sedalia. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
